Luke Chapter 10:28
1 And after this the Master appointed seventy others, and sent them
two by two ahead of Him into every city and place where He Himself
was about to go. 2 Then He said to them, “The harvest indeed is
great, but the workers are few, therefore pray the Master of the
harvest to send out workers into His harvest. 3 “Go! See, I send you
out as lambs into the midst of wolves. 4 “Do not take a purse, nor a
bag, nor sandals. And greet no one along the way. 5 “And whatever
house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 “And if indeed
a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest on it; and if not, it
shall return to you. 7 “And stay in the same house, eating and
drinking whatever with them, for the labourer is worthy of his
wages. Do not move from house to house. 8 “And into whatever city
you enter, and they receive you, eat whatever is placed before you,
9 and heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The reign of Elohim/The
Mighty One has come near to you.’ 10 “And into whatever city you
enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,
11 ‘Even the dust of your city which clings to us, we wipe off
against you, but know this, that the reign of Elohim/The Mighty One
has come near to you.’ 12 “And I say to you that it shall be more
bearable for Seḏom in that Day, than for that city. 13 “Woe to you,
Korazin! Woe to you, Bĕyth Tsaiḏa! For if the miracles which were
done in you had been done in Tsor and Tsiḏon, they would have
repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 “But it shall
be more bearable for Tsor and Tsiḏon at the judgment than for you.
15 “And you, Kephar Naḥum, who are exalted to the heaven, shall be
brought down to the grave. 16 “He who hears you hears Me, he who
rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent
Me.” 17 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Master, even the
demons are subject to us in Your Name.” 18 And He said to them, “I
saw Satan falling out of the heaven as lightning. 19 “See, I give
you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all
the power of the enemy, and none at all shall hurt you. 20 “But do
not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather
rejoice because your names have been written in the heavens.” 21 In
that hour Yahowsha/יהושע exulted in the Spirit and said, “I praise
You, Father, Master of the heaven and of the earth, that You have
hidden these matters from clever and learned ones, and did reveal
them to babes. Yea, Father, because thus it was well-pleasing in
Your sight. 22 “All has been delivered to Me by My Father, and no
one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is,
except the Son, and he to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him.” 23 And
turning to His taught ones He said, separately, “Blessed are the
eyes that see what you see, 24 for I say to you that many prophets
and sovereigns have wished to see what you see, and have not seen
it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.” 25 And see, a
certain one learned in the Torah stood up, trying Him, and saying,
“Teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life?” 26 And He
said to him, “What has been written in the Torah? How do you read
it?” 27 And he answering, said, “ ‘You shall love Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One with all your heart,
and with all your being, and with all your strength, and with all
your mind,’ and ‘your neighbour as yourself.’ ” 28 And He said to
him, “You have answered rightly. Do this and you shall live.”1
Footnote: 1Mt. 19:17. 29 But he, wishing to declare himself
righteous, said to Yahowsha/יהושע , “And who is my neighbour?” 30
And replying, Yahowsha/יהושע said, “A certain man was going down
from Yerushalayim to Yeriḥo, and fell among robbers, who, both
stripping and beating him, went away, leaving him half dead. 31 “And
by a coincidence a certain priest was going down that way. And when
he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 “And likewise a
Lĕwite also, when he came to the place, and seeing, passed by on the
other side. 33 “But a certain Shomeronite, journeying, came upon
him. And when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34 and he went
to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. And having
placed him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn, and looked
after him. 35 “And going out on the next day, he took out two pieces
of silver, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Look after
him, and whatever more you spend I shall repay you when I return.’
36 “Who, then, of these three, do you think, was neighbour1 to him
who fell among the robbers?” Footnote: 1Mt. 17:18. 37 And he said,
“He who showed compassion on him.” Then Yahowsha/יהושע said to him,
“Go and do likewise.” 38 And it came to be as they went that He
entered into a certain village. And a certain woman named Martha
received Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Miryam,
who also sat at the feet of Yahowsha/יהושע and heard His word. 40
But Martha was distracted with much serving, and coming up she said,
“Master, are You not concerned that my sister has left me to serve
alone? Speak to her then, to help me.” 41 And Yahowsha/יהושע
answering, said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and
troubled about many matters, 42 but one only is necessary, and
Miryam has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away
from her.”
John Chapter 12:50
1 Accordingly Yahowsha/יהושע , six days before the Passover, came to
Bĕyth Anyah, where El‛azar was, who had died, whom He raised from
the dead. 2 So they made Him a supper there, and Martha served,
while El‛azar was one of those who sat at the table with Him. 3 Then
Miryam took a pound of costly perfume of nard, anointed the feet of
Yahowsha/יהושע , and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was
filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 Then one of His taught
ones, Yehuḏah from Qerioth, son of Shim‛on, who was about to
deliver Him up, said, 5 “Why was this perfume not sold for three
hundred pieces of silver and given to the poor?” 6 And he said this,
not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a
thief, and had the bag, and he used to take what was put in it. 7
Yahowsha/יהושע then said, “Let her alone, she has kept this for the
day of My burial. 8 “For the poor you have with you always, but Me
you do not have always.” 9 Then a great crowd of the Yehuḏim
learned that He was there. And they came, not on account of
Yahowsha/יהושע only, but also to see El‛azar, whom He had raised
from the dead. 10 And the chief priests resolved to kill El‛azar as
well, 11 because on account of him many of the Yehuḏim went away
and trusted and relied in Yahowsha/יהושע . 12 On the next day a great
crowd who had come to the festival, when they heard that
Yahowsha/יהושע was coming to Yerushalayim, 13 took the branches of
palm trees and went out to meet Him, and were crying out, “Hoshia-na!
Blessed is He who is coming in the Name of Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה,1
the Sovereign of Yisra’ĕl!” Footnote: 1 See Ps. 118:26, Mt. 23:39.
14 And Yahowsha/יהושע , having found a young donkey, sat on it, as
it has been written: 15 “Do not fear, daughter of Tsiyon, see, your
Sovereign is coming, sitting on the colt of a donkey.” 16 At first
His taught ones did not understand this. But when Yahowsha/יהושע was
esteemed, then they remembered that this was written about Him and
that they had done this to Him. 17 Therefore the crowd, who were
with Him when He called El‛azar out of his tomb and raised him from
the dead, were bearing witness. 18 On account of this the crowd also
met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. 19 The
Pharisees then said among themselves, “You see how you are getting
nowhere at all. Look, the world has gone after Him!” 20 And there
were certain Greeks among those coming up to worship at the
festival. 21 These then came to Philip, who was from Bĕyth Tsaiḏa
of Galil, and were asking him, saying, “Master, we wish to see
Yahowsha/יהושע .” 22 Philip came and told Andri, and in turn Andri
and Philip told Yahowsha/יהושע . 23 And
Yahowsha/יהושע answered
them, saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Aḏam to be
esteemed. 24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat
falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it
bears much fruit. 25 “He who loves his life shall lose it, and he
who hates his life in this world shall preserve it for everlasting
life. 26 “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me. And where I am,
there My servant also shall be. If anyone serves Me, the Father
shall value him. 27 “Now I Myself am troubled, and what shall I say?
‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this reason I came to this
hour. 28 “Father, esteem Your Name.” Then a voice came from the
heaven, “I have both esteemed it and shall esteem it again.” 29 So
the crowd who stood by and heard it were saying there had been
thunder. Others said, “A messenger has spoken to Him.” 30
Yahowsha/יהושע answered and said, “This voice did not come because
of Me, but for your sake. 31 “Now is the judgment of this world, now
the ruler of this world1 shall be cast out. Footnote: 1See Lk. 4:6.
32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, shall draw all men unto
Myself.” 33 This He said, signifying by what death He was about to
die. 34 The crowd answered Him, “We have heard out of the Torah that
the Messiah remains forever. And how do You say, ‘The Son of Aḏam
has to be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Aḏam?” 35 Yahowsha/יהושע ,
therefore, said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you.
Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. And he
who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. 36 “While you
have the light, trust and rely in the light, so that you become sons
of light.” These words Yahowsha/יהושע spoke, and went off and was
hidden from them. 37 But though He had done so many signs before
them, they did not trust and rely in Him, 38 that the word of
Yeshayahu the prophet might be filled, which he spoke,
“Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה, who has trusted and
relied on our report? And to
whom has the arm of Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה been revealed?” 39 Because
of this they were unable to trust and rely, because again
Yeshayahu said: 40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their
heart, so that they should not see with their eyes and understand
with their heart, and turn, and I should heal them.”1 Footnote: 1See
Mt. 13:15. 41 Yeshayahu said this when he saw His esteem and spoke
of Him. 42 Still, even among the rulers many did trust and rely in
Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest
they should be put out of the congregation, 43 for they loved the
praise of men more than the praise of Elohim/The Mighty One. 44 Then
Yahowsha/יהושע cried out and said, “He who trusts and relies in Me,
trusts and relies not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 “And he who
sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 “I have come as a light into the
world, so that no one who trusts and relies in Me should stay in
darkness. 47 “And if anyone hears My Words but does not watch over
them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world but
to save the world. 48 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My
Words, has one who judges him: the Word that I have spoken shall
judge him in the last day.1 Footnote: 1See 3:18-19, 7:16. 49
“Because I spoke not from Myself, but the Father who sent Me has
given Me a command,1 what I should say and what I should speak.
Footnote: 1See 7:16. 50 “And I know that His command is everlasting
life.1 Therefore, whatever I speak, as the Father has said to Me, so
I speak.” Footnote: 1See Mt. 19:17
Revelations Chapter 22:14
1 And he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal,
coming from the throne of Elohim/The Mighty One and of the Lamb. 2
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was
the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its
fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing
of the nations. 3 And no longer shall there be any curse, and the
throne of Elohim/The Mighty One and of the Lamb shall be in it, and
His servants shall serve Him. 4 And they shall see His face, and His
Name shall be upon their foreheads. 5 And night shall be no more,
and they shall have no need of a lamp or the light of the sun,
because Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה Elohim/The Mighty One shall give them
light. And they shall reign forever and ever. 6 And he said to me,
“These words are trustworthy and true. And Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה
Elohim/The Mighty One of the set-apart prophets has sent His
messenger to show His servants what has to take place with speed. 7
“See, I am coming speedily! Blessed is he who guards the words of
the prophecy of this book.” 8 And I, Yoḥanan, saw and heard these
matters. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the
feet of the messenger who showed me these matters. 9 And he said to
me, “See, do not! For I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers
the prophets, and of those who are guarding the words of this book.
Worship Elohim/The Mighty One.” 10 And he said to me, “Do not seal
the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. 11
“He who does wrong, let him do more wrong; he who is filthy, let him
be more filthy; he who is righteous, let him be more righteous; he
who is set-apart, let him be more set-apart. 12 “And see, I am
coming speedily, and My reward is with Me, to give to each according
to his work.1 Footnote: 1See Mt. 16:27, John 5:29. 13 “I am the
‘Aleph’ and the ‘Taw’, the Beginning and the End, the First and the
Last. 14 “Blessed are those1 doing His commands,2 so that the
authority shall be theirs unto the tree of life, and to enter
through the gates into the city. Footnotes: 1See Mt. 19:17. 2Long
before the books were compiled to form “The New Testament,” Rev.
22:14 was quoted, as it is here given, by Tertullian (CE 208), and
by Cyprian (CE 251) – see the well-known Antenicene Fathers. 15 “But
outside are the dogs and those who enchant with drugs, and those who
whore, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and all who love and do
falsehood.1 Footnote: 1See 21:27, 2 Thess. 2:11. 16 “I,
Yahowsha/יהושע , have sent My messenger to witness to you these
matters in the assemblies. I am the Root and the Offspring of
Dawiḏ,1 the Bright and Morning Star.” Footnote: 1Isa. 11:1 & 10,
Rev. 5:5. 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And he who
hears, let him say, “Come!” And he who thirsts, come! And he who
desires it, take the water of life without paying! 18 For I witness
to everyone hearing the words of the prophecy of this book: If
anyone adds to them, Elohim/The Mighty One shall add to him the
plagues that are written in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away
from the words of the book of this prophecy, Elohim/The Mighty One
shall take away his part from the Book of Life, and out of the
set-apart city, which are written in this Book. 20 He that bears
witness of these matters says, “Yes, I am coming speedily.” Amĕn.
Yes, come, Master Yahowsha/יהושע ! 21 The
favor of our Master
Yahowsha/יהושע Messiah be with the set-apart ones. Amĕn.
Matthew Chapter 19:17
1 And it came to be, when Yahowsha/יהושע had ended these words, that
He left Galil and came to the borders of Yehuḏah beyond the Yardĕn.
2 And large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there. 3 And the
Pharisees came to Him, trying Him, and saying to Him, “Is it right
for a man to put away his wife for every reason?” 4 And He
answering, said to them, “Did you not read that He who made them at
the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘For this cause
a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and
the two shall become one flesh’? 6 “So that they are no longer two,
but one flesh. Therefore, what Elohim/The Mighty One has joined
together, let man not separate.” 7 They said to Him, “Why then did
Mosheh command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her
away?” 8 He said to them, “Because of the hardness of your hearts,
Mosheh allowed you to put away your wives, but from the beginning it
was not so. 9 “And I say to you, whoever puts away his wife, except
on the ground of whoring, and marries another, commits adultery.1
And whoever marries her who has been put away commits adultery.”1
Footnote:1See footnote 5:32. 10 His taught ones said to Him, “If
such is the case of the man with his wife, it is good not to marry.”
11 And He said to them, “Not all receive this word, but only those
to whom it has been given, 12 for there are eunuchs who were so born
from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made
eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves
eunuchs for the sake of the reign of the heavens. He who is able to
receive it, let him receive it.” 13 Then young children were brought
to Him to lay His hands on them and pray, and the taught ones
rebuked them. 14 But Yahowsha/יהושע said, “Allow the young children
and do not stop them from coming to Me, for of such is the reign of
the heavens.” 15 And having laid hands on them He went from there.
16 And see, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good shall
I do to have everlasting life?” 17 And He said to him, “Why do you
call Me good? No one is good except One – Elohim/The Mighty One. But
if you wish to enter into life, guard the commands.”1 Footnote:1See
Lk. 10:28, John 12:50, Rev. 22:14. 18 He said to Him, “Which?” And
Yahowsha/יהושע said, “ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit
adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false
witness,’ 19 ‘Respect your father and your mother,’ and ‘You shall
love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 20 The young man said to Him,
“All these I have watched over from my youth, what do I still lack?”
21 Yahowsha/יהושע said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell
what you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in
heaven. And come, follow Me.” 22 And when the young man heard the
word, he went away sad, because he had many possessions. 23 And
Yahowsha/יהושע said to His taught ones, “Truly, I say to you that it
is hard for a rich man to enter into the reign of the heavens. 24
And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the
eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the reign of
Elohim/The Mighty One.” 25 And when His taught ones heard it, they
were very astonished, saying, “Who then is able to be saved?” 26 And
looking intently Yahowsha/יהושע said to them, “With men this is
impossible, but with Elohim/The Mighty One all is possible.” 27 Then
Kĕpha answering, said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed
You. What then shall we have?” 28 And Yahowsha/יהושע said to them,
“Truly I say to you, when the Son of Aḏam sits on the throne of His
esteem, you who have followed Me in the rebirth, shall also sit on
twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Yisra’ĕl. 29 “And
everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or
mother or wife or children or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall
receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30 “But
many who are first shall be last, and the last first.
, Matthew 22:36-46
Chapter 22
1 And Yahowsha/יהושע responded and spoke to them again by parables
and said, 2 “The reign of the heavens is like a man, a sovereign,
who made a wedding feast for his son, 3 and sent out his servants to
call those who were invited to the wedding feast. But they would not
come. 4 “Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Say to those who
are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner. My oxen and fattened
cattle are slaughtered, and all is ready. Come to the wedding
feast.” ’ 5 “But they disregarded it and went their way – this one
to his field, that one to his trade. 6 “And the rest, having seized
his servants, insulted and killed them. 7 “But when the sovereign
heard, he was wroth, and sent out his soldiers, destroyed those
murderers, and set their city on fire. 8 “Then he said to his
servants, ‘The wedding feast, indeed, is ready, but those who were
invited were not worthy. 9 ‘Therefore go into the street corners,
and as many as you find, invite to the wedding feast.’ 10 “And those
servants went out into the street corners and gathered all whom they
found, both wicked and good. And the wedding hall was filled with
guests. 11 “And when the sovereign came in to view the guests, he
saw there a man who had not put on a wedding garment, 12 and he said
to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not having a wedding
garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 “Then the sovereign said to the
servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him out
into the outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of
teeth.’ 14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”1 Footnote:1See
20:16. 15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to trap Him in His
words. 16 And they sent to Him their taught ones with the Herodians,
saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of
Elohim/The Mighty One in truth, and it does not concern You about
anyone, for You are not partial to any man. 17 “Then say to us, what
do You think? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” 18 But
knowing their wickedness, Yahowsha/יהושע said, “Why do you try Me,
you hypocrites? 19 “Show Me the coin of the tax.” And they brought
Him a silver piece. 20 And He said to them, “Whose likeness and
inscription is this?” 21 They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said
to them, “Then give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to Elohim/The
Mighty One what is Elohim/The Mighty One’s.” 22 And having heard,
they marveled, and left Him and went away. 23 On that day
Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked
Him, 24 saying, “Teacher, Mosheh said that if anyone should die,
having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise
offspring for his brother. 25 “And there were with us seven
brothers, and the first died after he had married, and having no
children, left his wife to his brother. 26 “In the same way the
second also, and the third, unto the seventh. 27 “And last of all
the woman died too. 28 “At the resurrection, then, whose wife of the
seven shall she be – for all had her?” 29 And Yahowsha/יהושע
answering, said to them, “You go astray, not knowing the Scriptures1
nor the power of Elohim/The Mighty One. Footnote: 1Mk. 12:24. 30
“For in the resurrection they do not marry, nor are they given in
marriage, but are as messengers of Elohim/The Mighty One in heaven.
31 “And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read
what was spoken to you by Elohim/The Mighty One, saying, 32 ‘I am
the Elohim/The Mighty One of Aḇraham, and the Elohim/The Mighty One
of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim/The Mighty One of Ya‛aqoḇ’? Elohim/The
Mighty One is not the Elohim/The Mighty One of the dead, but of the
living.” 33 And when the crowds heard, they were astonished at His
teaching. 34 But the Pharisees, having heard that He had silenced
the Sadducees, were gathered together, 35 and one of them, one
learned in the Torah, did question, trying Him, and saying, 36
“Teacher, which is the great command in the Torah?” 37 And
Yahowsha/יהושע said to him, “ ‘You shall love
Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה
your Elohim/The Mighty One with all your heart, and with all your
being, and with all your mind.’ 38 “This is the first and great
command. 39 “And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your
neighbor as yourself.’ 40 “On these two commands hang all the Torah
and the Prophets.” 41 And when the Pharisees were gathered together,
Yahowsha/יהושע asked them, 42 saying, “What do you think concerning
the Messiah? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of Dawiḏ.”
43 He said to them, “Then how does Dawiḏ in the Spirit call Him
‘Master,’ saying, 44 ‘Yahowah/Yahowah/יהוה said to my Master, “Sit
at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool of Your
feet” ’? 45 “If then Dawiḏ calls Him ‘Master,’ how is He his Son?”
46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, and from that day on no
one was bold enough to ask Him any more questions.
Exodus Chapter 20
1 And Elohim/The Mighty One spoke all these Words, saying, 2 “I am
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One, who brought you out of the
land of Mitsrayim, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You have no other
mighty ones against My face. 4 “You do not make for yourself a
carved image, or any likeness of that which is in the heavens above,
or which is in the earth beneath, or which is in the waters under
the earth, 5 you do not bow down to them nor serve them. For I,
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One am a jealous Ěl, visiting
the crookedness of the fathers on the children to the third and
fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing kindness to
thousands, to those who love Me and guard My commands. 7 “You do not
bring1 the Name of Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One to
naught, for Yahowah/יהוה does not leave the one unpunished who
brings His Name to naught. Footnote: 1Or lift up, or take. 8
“Remember the Sabbath day, to set it apart. 9 “Six days you labor,
and shall do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath1 of
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One. You do not do any work –
you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor
your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is
within your gates. Footnote: 1There are other Sabbaths, but this is
the weekly Sabbath. 11 “For in six days Yahowah/יהוה made the
heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested
the seventh day. Therefore Yahowah/יהוה blessed the Sabbath day and
set it apart. 12 “Respect your father and your mother, so that your
days are prolonged upon the soil which Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The
Mighty One is giving you. 13 “You do not murder. 14 “You do not
commit adultery. 15 “You do not steal. 16 “You do not bear false
witness against your neighbor. 17 “You do not covet your
neighbor's house, you do not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his
male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, or
whatever belongs to your neighbor.” 18 And all the people saw the
thunders, the lightning flashes, the sound of the ram’s horn, and
the mountain smoking. And the people saw it, and they trembled and
stood at a distance, 19 and said to Mosheh, “You speak with us and
we hear, but let not Elohim/The Mighty One speak with us, lest we
die.” 20 And Mosheh said to the people, “Do not fear, for Elohim/The
Mighty One has come to prove you, and in order that His fear be
before you, so that you do not sin.” 21 So the people stood at a
distance, but Mosheh drew near the thick darkness where Elohim/The
Mighty One was. 22 And Yahowah/יהוה said to Mosheh, “Say this to the
children of Yisra’ĕl: ‘You yourselves have seen that I have spoken
to you from the heavens. 23 ‘You do not make besides Me mighty ones
of silver, and you do not make mighty ones of gold for yourselves.
24 ‘Make an altar of earth for Me, and you shall slaughter on it
your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your
cattle. In every place where I cause My Name to be remembered I
shall come to you and bless you. 25 ‘And if you make Me an altar of
stone, do not build it of cut stone, for if you use your chisel on
it, you have profaned it. 26 ‘Nor do you go up by steps to My altar,
lest your nakedness be exposed on it.’
Exodus Chapter 34
1 And Yahowah/יהוה said to Mosheh, “Cut two tablets of stone like
the first ones, and I shall write on these tablets the Words that
were on the first tablets which you broke. 2 “And be ready in the
morning. Then you shall come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and
present yourself to Me there on the top of the mountain. 3 “And let
no man come up with you, and let no man be seen in all the mountain,
and let not even the flock or the herd feed in front of that
mountain.” 4 And he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones.
Then Mosheh rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai, as
Yahowah/יהוה had commanded him, and he took two tablets of stone in
his hand. 5 And Yahowah/יהוה came down in the cloud and stood with
him there, and proclaimed the Name, Yahowah/יהוה. 6 And
Yahowah/יהוה
passed before him and proclaimed, “Yahowah/יהוה,
Yahowah/יהוה, an Ěl
compassionate and showing favor, patient, and great in kindness and
truth, 7 watching over kindness for thousands, forgiving crookedness
and transgression and sin, but by no means leaving unpunished1,
visiting the crookedness of the fathers upon the children and the
children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
Footnote: 1This is confirmed in Num. 14:18, and in Jer. 30:11. 8 And
Mosheh hurried and bowed himself toward the earth, and did
obeisance, 9 and said, “If, now, I have found favor in Your eyes, O
Yahowah/יהוה, I pray, let Yahowah/יהוה go on in our midst, even
though we are a stiff-necked people. And forgive our crookedness and
our sin, and take us as Your inheritance.” 10 And He said, “See, I
am making a covenant. Before all your people I am going to do
wonders such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any
nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of
Yahowah/יהוה. For what I am doing with you is awesome. 11 “Guard
what I command you today. See, I am driving out from before you the
Amorite and the Kena‛anite and the Ḥittite and the Perizzite and
the Ḥiwwite and the Yeḇusite. 12 “Guard yourself, lest you make a
covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest
it be a snare in your midst. 13 “But break down their altars, and
smash their pillars, and cut down their Ashĕrim – 14 for you do not
bow yourselves to another mighty one, for Yahowah/יהוה, whose Name
is jealous, is a jealous Ěl – 15 lest you make a covenant with the
inhabitants of the land, and they whore after their mighty ones, and
slaughter to their mighty ones, and one of them invites you and you
eat of his slaughtering, 16 and you take of his daughters for your
sons, and his daughters whore after their mighty ones, and make your
sons whore after their mighty ones. 17 “Do not make a moulded mighty
one for yourselves. 18 “Guard the Festival of Unleavened Bread. For
seven days you eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, in the
appointed time of the month of Aḇiḇ, because in the month of Aḇiḇ
you came out from Mitsrayim. 19 “Everyone opening the womb is Mine,
and every male first-born among your livestock, whether bull or
sheep. 20 “But the first-born of a donkey you ransom with a lamb.
And if you do not ransom, then you shall break his neck. Every
first-born of your sons you shall ransom. And they shall not appear
before Me empty-handed. 21 “Six days you work, but on the seventh
day you rest – in ploughing time and in harvest you rest. 22 “And
perform the Festival of Weeks for yourself, of the first-fruits of
wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering at the turn of the
year. 23 “Three times in the year all your men are to appear before
the Master, Yahowah/יהוה, the Elohim/The Mighty One of Yisra’ĕl, 24
for I dispossess nations before you, and shall enlarge your borders,
and let no one covet your land when you go up to appear before
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One three times in the year. 25
“Do not offer the blood of My slaughtering with leaven, and do not
let the slaughtering of the Festival of the Passover remain until
morning. 26 “Bring the first of the first-fruits of your land to the
House of Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One. Do not cook a
young goat in its mother’s milk.” 27 And Yahowah/יהוה said to Mosheh,
“Write these Words, for according to the mouth of these Words I have
made a covenant with you and with Yisra’ĕl.” 28 And he was there
with Yahowah/יהוה forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread
and he did not drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the Words of
the covenant, the Ten Words. 29 And it came to be, when Mosheh came
down from Mount Sinai, while the two tablets of the Witness were in
Mosheh’s hand when he came down from the mountain, that Mosheh did
not know that the skin of his face shone since he had spoken with
Him. 30 And Aharon and all the children of Yisra’ĕl looked at Mosheh
and saw the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come
near him. 31 But Mosheh called out to them, and Aharon and all the
rulers of the congregation returned to him, and Mosheh spoke to
them. 32 And afterward all the children of Yisra’ĕl came near, and
he commanded them all that Yahowah/יהוה had spoken with him on Mount
Sinai. 33 And when Mosheh ended speaking with them, he put a veil on
his face. 34 But whenever Mosheh went in before Yahowah/יהוה to
speak with Him, he would remove the veil until he came out. And when
he came out he spoke to the children of Yisra’ĕl what he had been
commanded, 35 and the children of Yisra’ĕl would see the face of
Mosheh, that the skin of Mosheh’s face shone, and Mosheh would put
the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.
Deuteronomy Chapter 5
1 And Mosheh called all Yisra’ĕl, and said to them, “Hear, O
Yisra’ĕl, the Torah and right-rulings which I speak in your hearing
today. And you shall learn them, and guard to do them. 2
“Yahowah/יהוה our Elohim/The Mighty One made a covenant with us in
Ḥorĕḇ. 3 “Yahowah/יהוה did not make this covenant with our
fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are
alive. 4 “Yahowah/יהוה spoke with you face to face on the mountain
from the midst of the fire. 5 “I stood between Yahowah/יהוה and you
at that time, to declare to you the Word of Yahowah/יהוה – for you
were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up the mountain
– saying: 6 ‘I am Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One who
brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, out of the house of
bondage. 7 ‘You have no other mighty ones against My face. 8 ‘You do
not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of which is in
the heavens above, or which is in the earth beneath, or which is in
the waters under the earth, 9 you do not bow down to them nor serve
them. For I, Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One, am a jealous
Ěl, visiting the crookedness of the fathers upon the children to the
third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 10 but showing
kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and guard My commands.
11 ‘You do not bring1 the Name of Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The
Mighty One to naught, for Yahowah/יהוה does not leave him unpunished
who brings His Name to naught. Footnote: 1Or lift up, or take. 12
‘Guard the Sabbath day, to set it apart, as Yahowah/יהוה your
Elohim/The Mighty One commanded you. 13 ‘Six days you labour, and
shall do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath1 of
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One. You do not do any work –
you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor
your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your
cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, so that your
male servant and your female servant rest as you do. Footnote: 1See
footnote at Ex. 20:10. 15 ‘And you shall remember that you were a
slave in the land of Mitsrayim, and that Yahowah/יהוה your
Elohim/The Mighty One brought you out from there by a strong hand
and by an outstretched arm. Therefore Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The
Mighty One commanded you to observe the Sabbath day. 16 ‘Respect
your father and your mother, as Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty
One has commanded you, so that your days are prolonged, and so that
it is well with you on the soil which Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The
Mighty One is giving you. 17 ‘You do not murder. 18 ‘You do not
commit adultery. 19 ‘You do not steal. 20 ‘You do not bear false
witness against your neighbour. 21 ‘You do not covet your
neighbor's wife, nor do you desire your neighbor's house, his
field, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, his ox, nor his
donkey, or whatever belongs to your neighbor.’ 22 “These Words
Yahowah/יהוה spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the
midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a
loud voice, and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets
of stone and gave them to me. 23 “And it came to be, when you heard
the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was
burning with fire, that you came near to me, all the heads of your
tribes and your elders, 24 and said, ‘See, Yahowah/יהוה our
Elohim/The Mighty One has shown us His esteem and His greatness, and
we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. Today we have
seen that Elohim/The Mighty One speaks with man – and he lives! 25
‘And now why should we die? For this great fire is consuming us. If
we hear the voice of Yahowah/יהוה our Elohim/The Mighty One any
more, then we shall die. 26 ‘For who is there of all flesh who has
heard the voice of the living Elohim/The Mighty One speaking from
the midst of the fire, as we have, and does live? 27 ‘You go near
and hear all that Yahowah/יהוה our Elohim/The Mighty One says, and
speak to us all that Yahowah/יהוה our Elohim/The Mighty One says to
you, and we shall hear and do it.’ 28 “And Yahowah/יהוה heard the
voice of your words when you spoke to me, and Yahowah/יהוה said to
me, ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they
have spoken to you. They have done well in all that they have
spoken. 29 ‘Oh, that they had such a heart in them, to fear Me and
to guard all My commands always, so that it might be well with them
and with their children forever! 30 ‘Go, say to them, “Return to
your tents.” 31 ‘But you, stand here by Me, and let Me speak to you
all the commands, and the Torah, and the right-rulings which you are
to teach them. And they shall do them in the land which I am giving
them to possess.’ 32 “And you shall guard to do as Yahowah/יהוה your
Elohim/The Mighty One has commanded you – do not turn aside, to the
right or to the left. 33 “Walk in all the way which Yahowah/יהוה
your Elohim/The Mighty One has commanded you, so that you live and
it be well with you. And you shall prolong your days in the land
which you possess.
Deuteronomy Chapter 10
1 “At that time Yahowah/יהוה said to me, ‘Hew for yourself two
tablets of stone like the first, and come up to Me on the mountain.
And you shall make yourself an ark of wood, 2 then I write on the
tablets the Words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.
And you shall put them in the ark.’ 3 “So I made an ark of acacia
wood, hewed two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the
mountain, with the two tablets in my hand. 4 “And He wrote on the
tablets according to the first writing, the Ten Words, which
Yahowah/יהוה had spoken to you in the mountain from the midst of the
fire in the day of the assembly. Then Yahowah/יהוה gave them to me,
5 and I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets
in the ark which I had made. And they are there, as Yahowah/יהוה
commanded me.” 6 Now the children of Yisra’ĕl set out from the wells
of Benĕi Ya‛aqan to Mosĕrah. Aharon died there, and he was buried
there. And El‛azar his son became priest in his place. 7 From there
they set out to Guḏgoḏah, and from Guḏgoḏah to Yotḇathah, a
land of rivers of water. 8 At that time Yahowah/יהוה separated the
tribe of Lĕwi to bear the ark of the covenant of Yahowah/יהוה, to
stand before Yahowah/יהוה, to serve Him, and to bless in His Name,
to this day. 9 Therefore Lĕwi has no portion nor inheritance with
his brothers. Yahowah/יהוה is his inheritance, as
Yahowah/יהוה your
Elohim/The Mighty One promised him. 10 “And I stayed in the mountain
for forty days and forty nights. And Yahowah/יהוה heard me at that
time also, and Yahowah/יהוה chose not to destroy you. 11 “And
Yahowah/יהוה said to me, ‘Arise, go before the people, to set out,
and let them go in and possess the land which I swore to their
fathers to give them.’ 12 “And now, Yisra’ĕl, what is Yahowah/יהוה
your Elohim/The Mighty One asking of you, but to fear Yahowah/יהוה
your Elohim/The Mighty One, to walk in all His ways and to love Him,
and to serve Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One with all your
heart and with all your being, 13 to guard the commands of
Yahowah/יהוה and His Torah which I command you today for your good?
14 “See, the heavens and the heaven of heavens belong to
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One, also the earth with all
that is in it. 15 “Yahowah/יהוה delighted only in your fathers, to
love them. And He chose their seed after them, you above all
peoples1, as it is today. Footnote: 1See also 7:6, 14:2, 26:18, Ps.
135:4 and Amos 3:2. 16 “And you shall circumcise the foreskin of
your heart, and harden your neck no more. 17 “For Yahowah/יהוה your
Elohim/The Mighty One is Elohim/The Mighty One of mighty ones and
Master of masters, the great Ěl, mighty and awesome, who shows no
partiality nor takes a bribe. 18 “He executes right-ruling for the
fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food
and a garment. 19 “And you shall love the stranger, for you were
strangers in the land of Mitsrayim. 20 “Fear Yahowah/יהוה your
Elohim/The Mighty One. Serve Him, and cling to Him, and swear by His
Name. 21 “He is your praise, and He is your Elohim/The Mighty One,
who has done for you these great and awesome deeds which your eyes
have seen. 22 “Your fathers went down to Mitsrayim with seventy
beings, and now Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One has made you
as numerous as the stars of the heavens.
Leviticus Chapter 19:18
1 And Yahowah/יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, 2 “Speak to all the
congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘Be
set-apart, for I Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One am
set-apart. 3 ‘Each one of you should fear his mother and his father,
and guard My Sabbaths. I am Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One.
4 ‘Do not turn to idols, and do not make for yourselves moulded
mighty ones. I am Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One. 5 ‘And
when you bring a peace offering to Yahowah/יהוה, bring it for your
acceptance. 6 ‘It is eaten the same day you slaughter it, and on the
next day. And that which is left on the third day is burned with
fire. 7 ‘So if it is eaten at all on the third day, it is
abominable, it is not accepted, 8 and he who eats it bears his
crookedness, because he has profaned the set-apart offering of
Yahowah/יהוה, and that being shall be cut off from his people. 9
‘And when you reap the harvest of your land, do not completely reap
the corners of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest.
10 ‘And do not glean your vineyard or gather every grape of your
vineyard, leave them for the poor and the stranger. I am
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One. 11 ‘Do not steal, do not
lie, do not deceive one another. 12 ‘And do not swear falsely by My
Name and so profane the Name of your Elohim/The Mighty One. I am
Yahowah/יהוה. 13 ‘Do not oppress your
neighbor or rob him. The
wages of him who is hired is not to remain with you all night until
morning. 14 ‘Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling-block before
the blind, but fear your Elohim/The Mighty One. I am Yahowah/יהוה.
15 ‘Do no unrighteousness in right-ruling. Do not be partial to the
poor or favor the face of the great, but rightly rule your
neighbor in righteousness. 16 ‘Do not go slandering among your
people. Do not stand against the blood of your neighbor. I am
Yahowah/יהוה. 17 ‘Do not hate your brother in your heart. Reprove
your neighbor, for certain, and bear no sin because of him. 18 ‘Do
not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the children of your
people. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am
Yahowah/יהוה. 19 ‘Guard My Torah. Do not let your livestock mate
with another kind. Do not sow your field with mixed seed. And do not
put a garment woven of two sorts of thread upon you. 20 ‘And when a
man has intercourse with a woman who is a female servant, engaged to
a man, and who has not at all been ransomed nor redeemed, there
should be an inquiry. But they are not put to death, because she was
not free. 21 ‘And he shall bring his guilt offering to Yahowah/יהוה,
to the door of the Tent of Meeting, a ram as a guilt offering. 22
‘And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the
guilt offering before Yahowah/יהוה for his sin which he has done.
And the sin which he has sinned shall be forgiven him. 23 ‘And when
you come into the land, and have planted all kinds of trees for
food, then you shall reckon their fruit as uncircumcised. For three
years it is as uncircumcised to you, it is not eaten. 24 ‘And in the
fourth year all its fruit is set-apart – praises to Yahowah/יהוה. 25
‘And in the fifth year you eat its fruit, so that it increases its
yield to you. I am Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One. 26 ‘Do
not eat meat with the blood. Do not practice divination or magic. 27
‘Do not round the corner of your head, nor destroy the corner of
your beard. 28 ‘And do not make any cuttings in your flesh for the
dead, nor put tattoo marks on you. I am Yahowah/יהוה. 29 ‘Do not
profane your daughter by making her a whore, so that the land does
not whore, and the land becomes filled with wickedness. 30 ‘Guard My
Sabbaths and reverence My set-apart place. I am Yahowah/יהוה. 31 ‘Do
not turn to mediums, and do not seek after spiritists to be defiled
by them. I am Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One. 32 ‘Rise up
before the grey-headed. And you shall favor the face of an old man,
and shall fear your Elohim/The Mighty One. I am Yahowah/יהוה. 33
‘And when a stranger sojourns with you in your land, do not oppress
him. 34 ‘Let the stranger who dwells among you be to you as the
native among you, and you shall love him as yourself. For you were
strangers in the land of Mitsrayim. I am Yahowah/יהוה your
Elohim/The Mighty One. 35 ‘Do no unrighteousness in right-ruling, in
measurement of length, in weight, or in measuring liquids. 36 ‘Have
right scales, right weights, a right ĕphah, and a right hin. I am
Yahowah/יהוה your Elohim/The Mighty One, who brought you out of the
land of Mitsrayim. 37 ‘And you shall guard all My Torah and all My
right-rulings, and do them. I am Yahowah/יהוה.’ ”
